Home Sweet Home

31 days on the road and we are back home. This was a great trip where we saw a lot of friends and family. We want to thank everyone for your gracious hospitality by opening up your homes and property allowing us to have nice visits.
Traveling by motorhome was a good experience for us and gave us a lot of flexibility and comfort. Some of the statistics are as follows: travel expenses which includes fuel, lodging fees, food both ate in the motorhome and food ate in restaurants was $3,074 for a per day average of $99.19. There was other money spent on incidentals not related to travel expenses. We traveled 4,279 miles and spent $2,565 on 754.73 gallons of gasoline at an average of $3.40 per gallon. The motorhome averaged 5.46 mpg. I pulled my Jeep and after several days getting use to the road I pretty much drove the full speed limit which on the Interstate was 75 mph. So with a less heavy foot and not towing it should get better mileage but that wasn't how it was on this trip. Our food came to $250.38. This low cost was do to the hospitality of everyone letting us put our feet under their dinner table. Total camp fees was $258.60 and again was because everyone allowed us to park in their driveways or, as in Joel and Connie's case, their river property.
We don't know what our next big trip will be or if we will drive the motorhome or not but this one is over and it was very pleasurable.
Again thanks to everyone who joined us both on the road and here on the blog.

Canadian, Texas

We are having a nice visit with Jim and Marge Hoobler. Jim took me around the area to see several famous old west battle sights in this part of the country such as The Adobe Walls and Buffalo Wallow. Janet and Marge caught up on old times and did some power shopping in Canadian. It's on to the Interstate and head home tomorrow.

More visits

We stopped in for an evening visit with our Nephew Brent and Denise in Huxley, Iowa. They have a reptile pet food manufacturing facility that is starting to grow. The family is proud of what they are doing.

We had a nice visit with Bob and Dorothy Stutler in Medicine Lodge, Kansas. They own a historic hotel that they remodeled into private living quarters and a great looking gun shop that Bob runs on a daily basis.

Boat ride

Paul and Ronna took us for a boat ride around the lake they live on. It was nice to get cool out doors for a change. It rained here in the morning and again at night. We are heading down the road today to visit our Nephew Brent in Huxley, IA.

Muskego, WI

We are now at my cousin Ronna and Paul's house for another "catch up on old times visit". The weather has been hovering around 100 for several days which is no surprise to anyone reading this.

On to Cedar Grove, WI

Janet and I drove over for a short visit with my Aunt Susie and Uncle Bob. We talked a lot and caught up on old times. Bob and I went for a nice bicycle ride one morning on a paved trail that runs right behind their house. Aunt Susie made some great food to eat.
